The Blue Anchor

One of the oldest original inns in Britain, The Blue Anchor is arguably Helston’s most famous pub.

Dating back to the 15th century where it served homebrewed mead to pilgrims and monks on their way to St Michael’s Mount, we now boast a 600-year heritage of brewing our own ales. We’re one of only four surviving alehouses still brewing their own beer; The Blue Anchor is the oldest and in our humble opinion, the best!

Today our uniquely flavoured Spingo ales are produced in the private brewery at the rear of the pub and is available in four different strengths with a fifth special brew produced at Christmas and Easter.

We’re passionate about retaining the original character of the inn, maintaining its reputation for atmosphere and unspoilt charm. Any visit to the building is a step into history – even our skittle alley dates back to the 18th century. Around 100 years ago local tin miners loved the inn so much that they had their wages paid at the bar!

We’re still an unmissable destination for locals and visitors alike: we have customers from all over the world who come back time and time again to sample our ales and our atmosphere. From regular live music events to beer festivals, there’s always something on our calendar and there’s always a fantastic pint waiting for you.
