Cycling

As with walking routes, there are plenty of places to cycle around Helston. Set in a valley, most directions are going to involve at least one steep hill from the centre of town, unless you follow the river down the valley through the Penrose Estate to Porthleven, where the nearest cycle hire can be found. If you bring your own bikes, there is a well-established and specialist cycle shop at the top end of town, Cycle Logic, that should have everything you need.

Any of the cycle routes that follow the coastline have spectacular scenery, but take care on the roads. A suggested route for a day’s cycling would be round Penwith from Helston to St Ives (where there is a main bus station should your legs not fancy the cycle back!).

Cycle Logic

Helston to St Ives coastal route
To get you started, here’s a nice long scenic route to take you round Penwith taking in Marazion, Penzance and St Ives. Of course you don’t have to do the whole lot – if you’re only after a small tour, then it’s best to turn around at Penzance.
